Hearts (also known as the "Black Lady", "Chase the Lady" and "Black Maria") is a trick taking card game, usually played by 4 players with a 52 card
deck. The goal of the game is to refrain from taking tricks containing cards from the Hearts suit and the Queen of Spades (hence the 3 nicknames in
brackets), thus avoiding from scoring as much as possible.
Tricks are segments of the game in which each player plays one card on the table. The card with the highest value will win the trick.

Hearts evolved from a game called Reverse, which has emerged in Spain around the 1750s. In that game the Jack of Hearts and the Queen of Hearts
(which was nicked the Quinola Pequena – the Little Queen) which penalized their captors significantly.
Other ancestors include the game of Four Jacks, in which Jacks penalized players who won them in tricks as well as two more games also called Reverse
or Reversis in which the objective of the game was to lose tricks.
About 100-150 years ago the game of Hearts emerged as we know it today. The scoring system was revised, acknowledging that all points are considered
negative. Eventually three more refinements appeared: Hearts cannot be led until broken, the pass of three cards and the deuce of clubs becoming the
standard card to lead the beginning hand.
Because Hearts is, relatively speaking, a new game and quite popular amongst all ages, there are many versions and variations to it, and in Mytopia
Hearts you can find the most popular of them all – The traditional yet most challenging Black Lady.
